Prepare Stripe for Subscriptions

Learn how to configure your Stripe Customer Portal and subscription settings so subscription renewals, expiring cards, and failed payments work smoothly with FitBudd.

Any subscription plans that you create on the FitBudd portal get automatically synced to your stripe account when someone tries to purchase them. This allows your customers to purchase these subscription plans directly from your app and website. But since FitBudd doesn’t capture any banking / card information of the customers, we still rely on Stripe to renew subscriptions, manage expired cards etc.

This is where the Stripe Customer Portal comes into play. This document will help you configure your stripe account and customer portal to work seamlessly with FitBudd’s subscriptions

Configure the Stripe Customer Portal

Head over to the Settings > Customer portal page in your Stripe dashboard. Under the “Functionality” section on that page. Turn ON the following settings:

  • Invoice History

  • Allow customer to update billing information

    • Billing address

  • Allow customers to update their payment methods

  • Allow customers to cancel subscriptions

    • Cancel at end of billing period

Make sure that the following settings are turned OFF:

  • Allow customers to apply promotion codes.

  • Allow customers to switch to a different pricing plan

  • Allow customers to update subscription quantities

Scroll further down on the same page to the “Business information” section. Three things are required in this section - “Terms of Service”, “Privacy Policy” and the “Default redirect link”. If you have your own website, then you can use the links to the T&C, Policy and homepage of your website for these respectively. If you don’t have your own website, you can use the links of your FitBudd website.

At the end the “Functionality” and the “Business Information” sections should look like the following pics:

You can change your icon, logo and colors of your brand by heading to the Settings > Branding page in your Stripe dashboard.
